Introduction
In 2022, Illumina, a global leader in genomic health, faced an unexpected challenge. Not only a global pandemic, but their renowned Spark Conference, designed to unite the brightest minds in genomics, had to be rebranded due to trademark disputes. Partnering with Jack Morton, the newly named Illumina Genomics Forum aimed to continue its mission of advancing the positive impact of genomic health. This transition and the curveball delivered by the Omicron variant set the stage for an innovative and adaptable virtual event. Notably, the 2022 forum featured keynote speeches by former President Barack Obama and philanthropist Bill Gates, underscoring the event's significance and the high level of discourse on the future of genomics. These initiatives aim to drive forward the collective understanding and application of genomics to solve some of the world's most challenging problems.
